A Family Therapist in Leicester

Felicity Rosslyn

I have a broad experience of the issues that make families reach out for help. I began work as a couple counsellor nine years ago with Relate, often dealing with the impact of family history, children or in-laws on couple relationships. I combined this later with counselling troubled teenagers in college and most recently, with working with young families in primary schools where the child is showing worrying behaviour. Some of these children may be adopted, be adjusting to step-parenting, or diagnosed with conditions such as ADHD or Asperger’s Syndrome. Before I trained as a counsellor I taught English literature to university students, so I have seen family problems at every stage and in a variety of educational settings.

I love my work and feel enormous gratitude to the clients who have trusted me at difficult times in their lives. It is a privilege to watch people grow and change, and to hear stories that may never have been told before. It is my job to adapt my style and expertise to your needs and to give you good reasons to trust me. If you give me realistic feedback about how our work is going, we can create a plan that fits your situation and implement it in a way that finally gives you the family relationships you hoped for.

BACP counsellor accreditation and training in family therapy

I am a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) accredited counsellor/psychotherapist and I abide by their Ethical Framework. I have a Tavistock Certificate in Systems Theory (helping me to understand the internal rules of families and the particular roles people play) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Couple Therapy (helping me to understand the impact of parents on children and grandparents on parents). I am a BUPA Recognised Mental Health Therapist. I also have an OCN certificate in group skills and I am a qualified supervisor of other counsellors.

I am married with young adult children, a daughter and son, who have taught me a lot about the distance between theory and practice in childrearing.

My Practicalities page will show you my fees.
